Alot of people here are surprised these men can have a civilized conversation. Thats part of the issue here, a fundamental misunderstanding or skewed perception of the people and communities represented by these groups. Just because someone is in a different gang, does not equal immeadiate, unprovoked violence. You notice that all these men agree with each other. They mostly answer the questions the same regardless of the gang they are in. They have WAY more in common than they have differences. As far as the respect for others talking. They grew up in situations were disrespecting someone could result in physical violence. Other episodes of this show can devolve into arguments and many people talking at once. The Politicians for instance are so used to being able to say anything they want, no matter how disrespectful, because they don't suffer any real consequences for it. Most gangs were started to protect members of their own community. Protect their homes, properties, families. Its basic tribal instinct that all humans have. Strength and protection in numbers. They essentially had to police themselves, because law enforcement sees their community as a non-priority. This is not to say that crimes and violence aren't commited, people get hurt, people get killed. I would think, that every single person in this video would have made different choices if their situation was better. This is why most gangs are born, exist, and thrive in economically poor areas. Places that aren't a priority for society. Alot of gang on gang violence is caused by individuals personally having issues with another individual, however because people have grouped together for protection in numbers, things can escalate quickly, involving people who had nothing to do with the initial confrontation. You gotta have your homies back or the whole system breaks down. I have much respect for all the men here, and I personally believe it would be easier to reform gang culture into something more peaceful and positive, than to reform our own gang of (now) militarized police.

Hell, California went from Reagan Era purse clutching bible thumpers to liberal fascists infringing on the First and Second Amendment under the guise of manners. Yet we continue on the come up, can't stop, won't stop we'll always push truth to power.
