I feel like you should get the other perspective of current Mormons too, because only getting the story of former Mormons isn't describing the religion fully... I'm not trying to be offensive or start an argument... I just think it might be fair to give both perspectives.

i am a active member(mormon) and i definetly do NOT agree with the lgbtq+ things that the religeon says but i feel that this video kind of depicted morminism as a bad religeon and a cult but its usually the bad members that are judging people of the lgbtq+ group/comunity because you are tought to love everyone but i still love and beleave in the church just like any other religeon

These are such wonderful people. The church--especially the community, which can be very pressuring especially in Utah--is really, really not for everyone. I agree with Kai--it's most important to love others and treat people right regardless of religious affiliation.

I loved this video! I was worried when I clicked on it but I loved hearing their stories. Lds people are different everywhere you go! The love IS unconditional if you’re living the faith correctly. People who don’t love everyone unconditionally are going against one of the biggest commandments god has given us. I hope they all live happy lives and I hope their families will recognize the changes they need to make to represent our faith better.

I live in Utah, and I’m friends with others that are Mormon. It is true, there are Mormons who won’t shun you for any un-holy reason, but I have come across Mormons who ridiculed me for supporting the LGBTQ community. They have made fun of me because I’m a different religion. It’s very frustrating seeing how these people only believe in one way to live, and it has to be their way.

None of the true, sacred Mormon (LDS) scripture scripture has ever been proven as fraudulent works. Especially since the egyptologists have been debunked. Google ''Book of Abraham pt 1 (Why Egyptologists are wrong) youtube''.

I just found this video, and i dont know if anyone will actually read my comment, but if someone does, then that makes it completely worth it to me. I grew up in a very rural area in Utah. I was one of a handful of kids in my school who was not LDS. The way they treated me was absolutely disgusting. Because I had sex, I was considered a whore and the whole school would ruin my relationships and lives because all people do is talk ill on others. It put such a bad taste in my mouth that I couldn’t ever imagine becoming part of the religion. When I moved away to college, I wanted to use that time to find a religion I felt was right. I attended the University of Utah, I went to countless frat parties and just lived my life like any college kid would. I didn’t really pursue religion like I had hoped I would. Towards the end of the school year, two missionaries knocked on my door and although I had such bad feelings about LDS people because of my past, I felt so comfortable to give them a chance. Letting those missionaries into my home helped me realize that the ignorant people were not true disciplines of Christ. Once I learned the principles of the church, I loved how much it was focused around family and keeping our bodies healthy because the word of wisdom wasn’t about just coffee, drugs, alcohol, etc., but it was about being more aware of what we do to our bodies. I was eating so much processed and frozen food, and so many sweets. I’m no where near perfect, but seeing the church and it’s principles with an open heart has blessed my life so much. There are still some things I sometimes struggle with as far as doctrine, but I do my best to keep an open mind and love everyone. That being said, I still support planned parenthood and other things because I have seen their impact from another perspective. I have had the opportunity to research a lot of things, and my opinion only matters for my personal self. It is not my place to tell someone they’re a bad person because they drink coffee, party, or do something we would not personally comfortable doing. You are your own person, but never put something or someone down without seeing the whole picture. 💕

Clearing us the cult comments as a member: (no hate on the guy, I would totally want to be his friend and he seems like he would be a cool uncle or something) 1. The commandments are not rules that we HAVE to follow, they are more like guidelines 2. Supreme leader? Again, none of us HAVE to take what he says to heart, we just choose to. And I apologize on behalf of the entire church if any member or ex-member felt pressured into doing something. That is not the way we roll. This religion is to be followed completely by choice. You should not feel like you HAVE to do anything if you don’t want to.

I was raised by what I call "Loose Mormons" (loosely based). I was a "sunbeam" as a kid and took the sacrament every week and wasn't allowed caffeine. After I turned 12 or so, I got tired of waking up early for church, but when Thomas S. Monson declared his disapproval for gay people, I left. I do think most Mormons are good people (just a bit weird) and I still consider whether or not to send my future kids to church with their Mormon grandparents until they (kids) tell me they don't want to go.

As a mormon, I can tell everyone that the reason the word Mormon was changed to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is because people were mixing up who we believed in. Mormon was a man in our scriptures who we consider a prophet and who was a great man, but we don't worship him. We worship Jesus, not Mormon :)
