So today I wanted to take a look back at the old MARVEL animated movies, I myself haven't been a fan of the recent DC animated movies, I feel as if DC have lost their touch, and I think the answer to the dip in quality hides somewhere within the history of the old marvel animated movies :O

Next Avengers is actually my favorite Avengers movie although that’s mainly due to Tom Kane’s performance as Ultron.

Yeah, that version of Ultron is honestly one of the most terrifying animated movie villains I’ve ever seen. It’s why I enjoy Next Avengers so much more than Age of Ultron, the stakes just feel so much higher. James Spader’s Ultron felt very lackluster and boring in my opinion, no one will ever beat Tom Kane’s performances in Avengers EMH and Next Avengers.

Planet Hulk was the best animated Marvel movie. Mostly because we don't have a World War Hulk solo live action movie.

dc's animation works in gray area that you might side with the bad guy at times that you see the heros and villians views point that even the joker makes sense but the live films don't always show that they'll pick one quirk of a character and stick with it that batman comes of as a boring straight lace cop or superman to goody goody while marvel's films feel like your watchin a reality tv show of friends living daily lives and then a bad pops up or some disasters happens and their uggghhhh i'm not in the mood they act like bored regular people at times like saving the world is a chore to them while the flims try to hard its like watching a daytime story so dramatic at times like a 80 or 90 cartoon with a feel good message at the end

The part in Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow where we see Ultron's trophy room is actually more dark then you think. Not only do we see relics from the dead Avengers, but we are shown more in the background. You can't see clearly into them but maybe you're supposed to leave it to your imagination to grow the dread. Those other trophy cases could be holding gear and other things from the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, X-Men, and any other hero or villain who died fighting Ultron.

I used to like marvel animated movies ,well some of them before marvel was acquired by the evil mouse and now we're getting crappy animation from them, but my favorites were Iron Man, Planet Hulk ,Hulk vs and Doctor Strange which to me is better than the live action movie .They might not have been on the same level with DC animated films ,but it was good ,I miss the old marvel.

DC can have its cartoons and young adult (tweeties) tv shows. Y’know... Melrose Flash, Dawson’s Arrow, Legends of My So Called Life, Batwoman is the New Orange, SuperGossip Girl and Smallville 90210. Marvel will ALWAYS be king of the big screen.

We almost got a Ultimate War (The first crossover of The Ultimates and Ultimate X-men) and a Thor animated movie, but it got scrapped for Hulk Vs. and Young Avengers. Also, the deal was for 8-9 animated features which is why we don’t have anymore Marvel animated movies (and because the people who worked on that now works for DC).

They need to start respecting the animation side of things especially darker animated series towards adult fans Disney just believes everything should be MCU related stuff for adults that's why I'm not hype for that what if animated show it's MCU smh good video 💯 DC does a way better job

I wish the MCU would stop it's over-reliance on humor CGI and basic third act structure ending in a battle and also there not being any original scores. I also want them to make the movies less connected to each other and more self-contained it would also be nice if they stop making the movies so formulaic and more diverse in their storytelling it would also be nice if they gave director creative control

I recall watching these movies years ago and I agree with ya as they really are forgettable. It's not that I think they're terrible I do like Planet Hulk & the two Ultimate Avenger movies it's just the problem I have with these animated Marvel films they were just to mediocre.

  32. No Consistency

I watched these movies around 7 years ago and I had mostly forgotten them. I want to mention what I do remember to bring more positives to light. In Doctor Strange, while it was bland on whole, I did like during the training montage that Strange had to actually work hard to earn the magic. Carrying heavy stones and building walls out of granite. It felt like Karate Kid and it made magic feel like something you really had to work for. I feel like the live action film, while mostly superior, was missing that element when Doctor Strange was learning magic. I don't remember much from the others, but Planet Hulk is by far the best. It's also the most mature in all the series. You repeatedly described the other films as childish adventures which are fine. But that cannot be said about Planet Hulk. The genocide committed with the spikes is terrifying. The bloodshed is brutal. The stakes are grounded and it really feels like something of worth is achieved when you get to the end. I first saw Planet Hulk on ISpulse where is was available for free for a while and as young tweenager I remember being genuinely shocked by how fearless the violence was. Especially when compared to most cartoons I was watching at the time. Out of all the films here, Planet Hulk I returned to at least three times. and It's the only one I could recommend to non-comic book fans as I feel it is telling a story that can be accessible to more than just nerds or super hero loving kids.

Solid Snake same here man, I wish the people adapting the thor comics into films would treat all the players as equal moving parts in a larger story, sort of like how Jason Aaron has in the comics, obviously Thor has the be the prime mover of the story, but his supporting characters have their value too

I agree with your point on the MCU having lost their individuality especially with Captain Marvel as well as Thor Ragnarok in my opinion I much prefer Kenneth Branaghs take on the Odinson character much more because it felt different from Iron Man and Hulk and Spider-Man etc a new character that was extremely unique too me

@Julian Xamo ,But it actually is.From the release of the image of the title of Ragnarok which was years ago .It was hinted that Ragnarok would of been a dark end of world story for Thor, not this comedic buddy cop style movie that was under Taika .The movie became a next comedy show in the MCU.
