    First time I've been left shaking my head by a Babish video......those onions were nowhere near ready, they should be a very deep brown before you move on. Your onions were pretty blonde.

    Pretty sure the French cook it with white wine, not sherry. Adds to the richness. Also onions need a lot more colour on them!

    Tips for no tears refrigerate them before cutting. Leave root end on while cutting. Or cut near running water.

    I’m making this for family dinner this week, I’m 18 and am far more used to baking then cooking, but god dammit I’ve been thinking about this soup for months and I haven’t had it in years

    I knew how to make this but I wanted to see if you did anything differently, but it's almost exactly the same! The only difference is I use red wine over sherry. If you want an alternative to the chives I put it under the grill to colour the cheese. Just leave it for a few minutes before you dig in ;)

    If you cut the bread at an angle you get more bread surface area without it becoming too thick, also the crust is at a bias so it is easier to bite through.

    can you please make a jewish dinner for your next basics episode. There are so many great foods from jews and there not all that difficult to make. I'm very interested to see how you would make anything from challah to shnitzel to knishes or whatever. Heres a link to the top 100 jewish foods (debatable list), some of which would be great to make. I also recomend reading the book, its both heartfelt and hilarious and can take anyone back to their childhood or that one time they were in a deli.
